Sofia, October 14 (BTA) - Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) leader Kornelia Ninova said that corruption, the EU presidency and the 2018 budget make up Bulgaria's current agenda. She was addressing a meeting of BSP's National Council on Saturday.

According to Ninova, Bulgaria ranks first in corruption in Europe and the majority of Bulgarians view corruption is the main issue. Ninova said that the political class does nothing against corruption because it is part of it.

Ninova highlighted the 2018 budget and proposed an alternative budget which will be discussed at an upcoming socialist congress and submitted to Parliament.

She set out the preparations for the Bulgarian EU Presidency as the third major topic. According to her, the preparations are accompanied by corruptions scandals, lack of real policies and concern for the national interests.

Ninova said that the BSP congress is expected to take place on October 28. On the agenda will be BSP as an alternative for Bulgaria, the opportunities provided by the EU presidency for Bulgaria, the nomination of Sergei Stanishev as President of the Party of European Socialists and the 2018 budget.

Ninova also said that the BSP will petition the Constitutional Court in connection with the resignation of GERB MP Delyan Dobrev, who was implicated by the BSP in influence peddling and cronyism in Haskovo. His resignation was voted down by the parties of the ruling majority.
