Sofia, October 17 (BTA) - A Consultative Council on National Security failed to agree on the role and functions of the future anti-corruption authority and the rules for the appointment of its leaders, said President Rumen Radev, emerging from the four-hour meeting on Tuesday. On its agenda were legislative measures to counter corruption.

Speaking to journalists, Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) leader Mustafa Karadayi said the Council had reached consensus on a number of important issues and adopted a general political framework. He also said that the MRF had called for adequate actions on the part of institutions and politicians after recent weeks and months had shown that democracy and the freedom of speech are at risk. /MORE
