Sofia, October 25 (BTA) - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov conferred here on Wednesday with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yon, who is paying a three-day official visit to Bulgaria (October 24-26).

The two heads of government had a nearly two-hour-long one-to-one session, followed by plenary talks between the government delegations. Deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, investments in energy and automaking had topped the agenda, the two said after the meeting.

Lee thanked the Bulgarian Government for its support of his country's policy against nuclear and ballistic-missile tests and for its efforts to attract foreign investments. "The tenure of Boyko Borissov's Cabinet has an impact on the attraction of foreign investors, including Korean ones," the guest said.

He specified that he had discussed with his host energy, high technology and automaking. Lee invited Borissov to visit Korea. "We would like this visit to produce tangible results, which is why we will prepare for this trip with Korean companies," he added.

"Bulgaria is an exceedingly attractive destination for investments in new technologies and electric vehicles," Borissov said. He hopes that the region of the Republic of Korea will be pacified.

A Bulgarian-Korean Chamber of Commerce was launched on Wednesday as a specific step towards economic interaction.

Speaking at a meeting of South Korean businessmen stationed in Bulgaria, Lee said that economic cooperation between South Korea and Bulgaria remains at a nascent level, and it's time to expand it in all directions through the full operation of such cooperation committees, the Yonhap News Agency reported.

"The impression that I had while entering the city from the airport was that Bulgaria is dynamically initiating an economic takeoff, and has a very much open system," Lee told the businessmen. "In a situation like this, I believe there will be a lot of work that our businessmen should do. I hope all of you will work hard and play a guiding role so as to diversify cooperation (between the two countries)," Yonhap said.
