site.btaGovernment Will Hand Out Christmas Bonuses to Pensioners

Sofia, November 15 (BTA) - Social Minister Bisser Petkov told the media that he and Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov will suggest at Wednesday's cabinet meeting Christmas bonuses for pensioners who receive less that 321 leva. Petkov was speaking after a forum on the European Pillar of Social Rights, organized by the Confederation of the Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria.

In 2018, the poverty line is suggested to be set at 321 leva. Estimates by the National Social Security Institute show that 1,243,000 pensioners will be entitled to Christmas bonuses of 40 leva. Overall expenditures will total 50 million leva.
