site.btaBulgarian Defence Minister: Five More Tanks to Be Repaired at TEREM

July 21 (BTA) - Five more
tanks will be sent for repairs to the TEREM - HAN KRUM plant
near Turgovishte in the next month or two, Defence Minister
Krassimir Karakachanov said during his visit to the plant's
testing ground here on Tuesday. He attended the testing of the
last two out of thirteen T- tanks repaired at the plant.

These tanks, together with 60 tank rangefinders for the Land
Forces were overhauled between January 2019 and July 2020.
  
Karakachanov said that for ten years, not a single tanks of the
Bulgarian Armed Forces has been overhauled at TEREM.

The next step after the repairs is the modernization of the
tanks, he added.

He recalled that contracts have been sighed for the purchase of
new fighter jets, the contracts for new patrol ships for the
Navy are underway, and the procedure for repair and
modernization of the existing military equipment is underway.

Karakachanov said it is his ambition to do more by the end of
his tenure than what has been done in the last 30 years. RI/DS
