site.btaBulgarian State Railways Picks Contractor for Locomotive Leasing

August 18 (BTA) - Bulgarian State Railway Company BDZ has selected a contractor in a procedure for locomotive leasing. Ubex Bulgaria EOOD will lease out to BDZ five Siemens Vectron electric locomotives. The contract has the option of providing an additional five locomotives.

The contractor was picked by a decision of a selection commission.

Ubex Bulgaria made it to the second stage of the competitive procedure together with ELL Germany and S Rail Lease. After negotiations, the first-ranked candidate made the best offer of 8,468,400 leva pre-VAT, which was lower than the tentative price set by BDZ.

The price includes leasing five Siemens Vectron locomotives (with an option for an additional five), technical maintenance, repair and spares, as well as insurance and commissioning. The contract covers the training of maintenance and operation staff.

The contract is for 24 months with an option for renewal for 12 months.

The first locomotives are due to be delivered in 60 to 90 days from the signing of the contract. NV/LN
