Sofia, August 23 (BTA) - The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bulgaria reached 15,227 after 96 new infections were confirmed over the last 24 hours out of 3,402 PCR tests, according to data posted on www.coronavirus.bg on Sunday morning.

Sofia City tops the list of new cases with 25 patients, followed by Blagoevgrad with 16 and Dobrich, Smolyan and Plovdiv with 8 new cases each.

The active cases are 4,360. The hospitalized patients number 743, including 74 in intensive care.

Another 40 COVID-19 patients have recovered over the last 24 hours, bringing the total of recoveries to 10,322.

The newly infected persons include one nurse, bringing the number of infectees among medical staff to 832.

Six more fatalities were reported, bringing the total death toll to 545.
