Sofia, October 5 (BTA) - Additional money will be provided next year to emergency rooms, psychiatric wards, wards for specific and non-specific lung disorders, and coronavirus wards, Healthcare Minister Kostadin Angelov told reporters on Monday. Also, additional dedicated funding will be provided to municipal hospitals, Angelov said.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov said that next year's state budget will include by 460 million leva more for healthcare.

The Healthcare Minister said that talks continue with the Finance Minister "in search of sustainability of all increases to coronavirus front-line workers and such will be ensured". In Angelov's words, front-line workers will receive pay bonuses for the duration of the state of epidemic emergency.

Angelov said that the coronavirus figures are monitored daily and that for the time being no change is necessary of the counter-epidemic measures in effect in Bulgaria.

The healthcare system has enough beds and staff, Angelov said, adding that the recent increase in the number of hospital beds occupied by Covid-19 patients is one per cent, from 10 to 11 per cent, and 0.8 per cent in intensive care units, from 4 to 4.8 per cent.

On Monday Angelov attended the opening of the academic year in the Medical University in Sofia. LN/ZH//
