Bulgarian Energy Minister, Russian Deputy Justice Minister Discuss Upcoming Meeting of Intergovernmental Commission

Moscow/Sofia, November 16 (BTA) - Bulgarian Energy Minister Temenouzhka Petkova and Russia's First Deputy Justice Minister Sergey Gerassimov met in Moscow, Petkova's Ministry said. Gerassimov is Co-Chair of the Bulgarian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation on the Russian side.

The Bulgarian Chairs of the Commission are Energy Minister Petkova and Economy Minister Bozhidar Loukarski. The Intergovernmental Commission has not been convened since 2011. The next meeting is expected to be in Sofia in the end of January 2016.

Petkova and Gerassimov were adamant that the upcoming meeting of the Commission will be of major importance for the future development of Bulgarian-Russian relations. Petkova told her host that some of the working parties within the Commission, including the one for energy, have already held their meetings. She voiced confidence that the issues discussed within the working parties will be successfully resolved at the session of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Gerassimov said that bilateral relations in the energy sector should be promoted.
