On Bulgarian, Slovakian Proposal, European Council to Discuss Energy Market

Brussels, November 17 (BTA correspondent Nikolay Jeliazkov) - On
the proposal of Bulgaria and Slovakia, the EU General Affairs
Council have decided to put the energy market on its December
agenda, Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kouneva told
Bulgarian reporters here Wednesday.

Bulgaria and Slovakia are the two EU member states that are the
most dependent on the import of Russian gas, Kuneva said. "We
want equal treatment of the European legislation in respect of
the North Stream and South Stream pipelines," she added arguing
that the same high standards in terms of legislation compliance
that applied to South Stream, should apply to all other cases.

The state and government leaders will also discuss in December
the talks with the UK and migration. "Nobody denies the exreme
importance of the UK in the EU but most countries will not
support a change of the freedom of movement of labour," Kuneva
said adding that certainly support from Bulgaria and other
Eastern European countries is out of the question.
