Bulgarian Prime Minister Supports Idea to Fraternize Sofia, Shanghai

Shanghai, November 23 (BTA special correspondent Genka Ivanova)  - Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov met with Shanghai Mayor Yang Xiong here on Monday. Borissov told his host that he
support the idea of fraternizing Sofia and Shanghai, and invited Yang Xiong to visit the Bulgarian capital soon so as to finalize the agreement.

Borissov is on a visit to China as head of a  government delegation from November 22 to 27. He is scheduled to participate in the 4th Meeting of Heads of Government of China and Central and Eastern European Countries in Suzhou.

The Shanghai Mayor expressed the hope that the 16+1 Initiative will lead to specific results and said that it will have a big contribution to the relations between China and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), as well as between China and Bulgaria.

He also said that Shanghai has a population of around 24 million people, and the goal is to turn the city into a leading economic, financial and trade centre not only in China but also in the world. According to him, there are exceptionally many opportunities for trade with Bulgaria, as well as for broadening the bilateral relations in the sphere of culture, science and innovations.

Yang Xiong noted that each morning he drinks Bulgarian yoghurt of the Momchilovtski brand. This is one of the most popular yoghurt brands in Shanghai, he added.

Prime Minister Borissov thanked his host for the opportunity for Bulgarian companies to present themselves to their Shanghai colleagues.
