Counterfeit Group Busted

Sofia, November 28 (BTA) - The specialized prosecution has brought charges against five members of an organized crime group which supplied counterfeit ID documents to illegal migrants. The Interior Ministry said that the members of the group, aged between 22 and 57, were detained on November 26 in Sofia and Veliko Turnovo in a special operation by anti-organized crime units and the specialized prosecution.

The five men have been detained for 72 hours.

Evidence suggest that the group has operated since November 2014 in Sofia, Veliko Turnovo and Pavlikeni. Its members forged and sold ID cards, passports, driving licence, and badges.

The police found counterfeit documents in Arabic, drugs and a police uniform during searched of the houses and the cars of the group members.
