Two Wounded  in Monday's  Shooting in Sofia

Sofia, December 8 (BTA) - Two men were wounded in a shooting on Sofia's Cherni Vruh Blvd. late on Monday afternoon.

Shots were reported on the emergency number 112 shortly before 6 p.m., the Interior Ministry said. Two men with a criminal record of robbery and causing bodily injury, aged 21 and 30, are in hospital in stable condition. They were shot by the security guard of the perimeter of an office, who said he had been provoked.

The suspected shooter, 46 year-old Ivaylo Mladenov, was arrested. He was indicted by the Sofia regional prosecution office for intentionally inflicting moderate bodily injuries on Grigor Iliev, 19, and Mario Petrov, 30, with disregard for the safety of others. The crime is punishable by two to ten years in prison, the prosecution office said.

Mladenov will remain in custody until December 10, when he will be taken to the Sofia Regional Court for reviewing the demand for his further detention.

Two forensic examinations have been assigned as part of the case, the crime scene has been examined and witnesses questioned.
