Minimum Monthly Wage Rises to Lv 420 as of January 1

Sofia, January 1 (BTA) - As of January 1, the minimum monthly wage in Bulgaria increases to 420 leva from 380 leva. The government intends the rise as an incentive to job seekers and as a way to improve the living standards of minimum wage earners and their families.

The wage rise is expected to reduce the proportion of the working poor and to boost the economy through larger domestic consumption.

The minimum hourly rate for a five-day working week and 8 hours of work per day will be 2.50 leva.
