President Plevneliev Receives Slovenia's Highest State Honour

Sofia, July 25 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev received Slovenia's highest state honour, the Order for Exceptional Merits, for his contribution to the peaceful, democratic and European development of the countries in the region, for promoting Bulgaria's cooperation with Slovenia at the bilateral and multilateral level and strengthening relations within the European Union, the President's Press Secretariat reported on Monday.

The distinction was presented by Slovene President Borut Pahor after Plevneliev arrived on an official visit to the country earlier in the day. Pahor welcomed the guest with an official ceremony in the capital Ljubljana.

The two presidents will discuss the migration wave, the situation in Turkey, the fight against terrorism and the impact of Britain's leaving the EU. They will exchange views on the Western Balkan countries' prospects of integrating into the EU and NATO.

Plevneliev is also expected to talk with Slovenia's Prime Minister Miroslav Cerar, National Assembly Vice-President Matjaz Nemec and Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Jankovic. A visit to the Jozef Stefan Institute is on Plevneliev's agenda as well.

The Bulgarian President's talks in Ljubljana will focus on current matters figuring on the regional, European and international agenda, cooperation within the EU, bilateral trade and economic relations, investments, culture and education.
