President: National Association of Municipalities Is a Symbol of Unity

Albena Resort, October 7 (BTA) - The National Association of Municipalities in Bulgaria (NAMB) is a symbol of unity, President Rosen Plevneliev said at the opening of the Municipal EXPO exhibition in the Albena sea resort.

The exhibition, held on the sidelines of the 11th annual meeting of local governments, has drawn more than 20 providers of services and products for the municipalities.

"You stick together, unified regardless of your political affiliation. The towns, the villages that you govern are unique and have different potential, but all of you together make up Bulgaria," Plevneliev said in his address to the forum on Thursday.

The President recalled how he had worked together with the mayors under EU-backed projects at the time when he was serving as regional development minister. He said at the time he did not believe that a 96 per cent rate of completion would be achieved by the end of the first programming period.
