President Starts Consultations with Parliamentary Forces after Cabinet's Resignation

Sofia, November 17 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev has started consultations with the parliamentary forces on Thursday after Parliament accepted the resignation of Boyko Borissov's cabinet. After the consultations the head of State will call a meeting of the Consultative Council on National Security and the parties, the executive and the legislative will agree on how to end the political crisis, Plevneliev said at the opening of his meeting with GERB representatives.

Afterwards the President will start mandating parliamentary forces to form a cabinet.

GERB's leader Boyko Borissov and floor leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov are meeting with Plevneliev.

Plevneliev said: "During the consultations we will discuss if it is possible to find another formula for a government in the present Parliament. If it is not, we will consider a feasible time for elections as well as the most pressing tasks to be completed by this Parliament before the early elections."

He also said that as President he is satisfied that in the last two years, at a hard time in Bulgaria's history, after difficult elections for the 43rd National Assembly, it was GERB's leadership that took responsibility to form a government and achieved tangible results: things calmed down, the economy made a strong progress, macrofinancial stability is impressive, unemployment is at a record low, and many modernization projects were launched.

On Friday the President will meet with representatives of the Bulgarian Socialist Party. The other six parliamentary forces will be meeting with the President next week.
