Three Police Officers Charged with Stealing Cigarettes Worth More than 2 Million Leva Stored as Evidence

Sofia, February 28 (BTA) - The Prosecuting Magistracy has pressed charges against three police officers for stealing cigarettes worth more than 2 million leva stored as physical evidence. The cigarettes were stolen back in 2014 but the theft was not discovered until 2016.

The three police officers were detained for 72 hours. The Prosecuting Magistracy will demand they remain in permanent custody.

The stolen cigarettes were distributed in the area of Pleven, Northern Bulgaria.
