Sofia, June 7 (BTA) - Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov demanded that Parliament strips Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) MP Dimitar Avramov of his immunity due to an investigation that started four years ago. Following a year-long investigation, on August 30, 2013 the Sofia City Prosecution Office charged Avramov and an accomplice of his named Metodi Petkov with trading in influence.

Avramov is charged that back in 2012 he and Petkov have asked for and received 100,000 leva from a businessman to influence a decision by the head of the Agriculture Regional Directorate in the northwestern city of Montana.

On June 29, 2016 the Sofia City Court (SCC) acquitted Avramov and Petkov. The Appellate Court, however, revoked the acquittal and returned the case to be reviewed by the SCC once again. The proceedings against Avramov were suspended after his election as MP. LI/MY
