Sofia, June 28 (BTA) - Meeting with the visiting Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour here Friday, Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova said that strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the area of higher education will get the support of all state institutions in Bulgaria, said the President's Press Secretariat.

Foreign Minister Ghandour is on an official visit to Sofia Thursday and Friday to become the first top diplomat of his country visiting Bulgaria after the start of democratic changes here in 1989.

Iotova recalled the traditions in education cooperation between the two countries. The guest recalled that over 3,000 Sudanese students studied in Bulgarian university and many of them later took diplomatic and leadership posts.

The two sides also discussed Sudan's role in fighting terrorism and illegal migration and Iotova said that a new stage commences in the efforts to resolve the migrant crisis and Sudan will have a very important mission.

Economic cooperation was on the agenda of the talks, including the areas which offer ample room for broadening cooperation.

Minister Ghandour said that his visit to Bulgaria has been most successful and energized bilateral relations.
