Sofia, August 2 (BTA) - Bulgarian President Rumen Radev hailed the Treaty of Friendship, Goodneighbourliness and Cooperation between Bulgaria and Macedonia signed on Tuesday. Radev underscored that "a new, European page has been turned" in bilateral relations, the presidential Press Secretariat said Wednesday.

Radev recalled that the signing of the Treaty became possible thanks to long years of efforts on the part of diplomats and statesmen.

The Bulgarian President appealed for a prompt ratification of the Treaty by the parliaments of the two countries, fulfilment of the agreements set down in it and implementation of the agreed projects in the name of the prosperity of the people in both countries. Radev underscored the need of systematic efforts to implement the Treaty.

He greeted the people of Bulgaria and Macedonia on the occasion of Ilinden (Saint Elijah's Day, August 2).
