site.btaThis Year's Grape, Wine Will Be Very Good Quality - Expert

Pleven, North Central Bulgaria, August 31 (BTA) - This year's grape and subsequent wine harvest in Bulgaria is expected to be of very good quality, Prof. Ivan Pachev, Director of the Institute of Viticulture and Enology in Pleven, told BTA.

The dry weather and the good temperature amplitude of about 20 C in 24 hours contribute to the accumulation of sugar, Pachev said. That is why the grape crop is expected to be good and the wine produced from it to be of high quality. Quality wine requires quality grapes, which means it has to have a balance of acids and sugar.

Pachev expressed hope that the weather will be favourable and will allow vine growers to gather the whole harvest.

On Thursday, Pachev was heading the second day of a scientific session organized on the occasion of the 115th anniversary of the Institute of Viticulture and Enology in Pleven.
