Sofia, September 1 (BTA) - Hungarian Interior Minister Sandor Pinter paid a visit to Bulgaria on Friday and conferred with his Bulgarian counterpart Valentin Radev and Prime Minister Boyko Borissov.

Less than 1,000 illegal migrants have entered Hungary from Serbia since the start of 2017, said Pinter after meeting with Minister Radev.

In addition to the refugee pressure, which has decreased substantially, the two have discussed the fight against human trafficking and terrorism.

Radev said that Sofia will send experts to Budapest to get experience in connection with the preparations of the upcoming Bulgarian EU Presidency and border protection.

Pinter and Borissov have discussed the development of information systems and interconnectivity of databases in connection with the implementation of the cross-border agreement concerning sanctions imposed in connection with road traffic violations, which Hungary had initiated, and to which Bulgaria is a party, as well as in the context of prevention, investigation and solving of crimes.

Borissov said that improving the security of EU citizens and containing migration will be the two main home affairs topics during the Bulgarian EU Presidency.

The two have also discussed border security and the fight against terrorism. Borissov noted that the migration situation in Bulgaria has been stable this year and pressure is declining. According to him, this can be attributed to the systematic efforts of the Bulgarian authorities to protect and control the border.
