site.btaEDA Chief Executive's Meetings in Bulgaria
Sofia, September 4 (BTA) - Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Krassimir Karakachanov Monday met with Jorge Domecq, Chief Executive of the European Defence Agency (EDA), the Defence Ministry said.
Karakachanov talked about his Ministry's preparation for Bulgaria's EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2018. He listed the defence priorities of the Bulgarian EU Presidency, including continuing work on initiatives arising from the EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy, EU-NATO cooperation, the drawing up of a European Defence Industrial Development Programme, and assistance for capacity building in support of peace and development in the Western Balkans.
For his part, Domecq talked about EDA's work and expressed satisfaction with the Bulgarian Defence Ministry's preparation for the rotating EU Presidency. He stressed EDA's readiness to help Bulgaria successfully carry out this task at a time of key importance for the development of the EU and its Foreign and Security Policy.
Domecq is also to hold meetings at the Foreign Ministry and the parliamentary Defence Committee.
