site.btaBulgaria Participates in Justice and Home Affairs Council as It Confirms Establishment of European Public Prosecutor's Office

Luxembourg/Sofia, October 12 (BTA) - Bulgarian Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva participated in a Justice and Home Affairs Council Thursday as it adopted a regulation on the establishment of a European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO), said Tsacheva's Ministry.

Tsacheva said during the debate that Bulgaria is firm on its position in favour of institutional measures on a EU level, to allow effective prosecution of crimes affecting the financial interests of the European Union.

She said that during its Presidency of the EU Council Bulgaria will make its priority actions to get the EPPO up and running and building relations with the member states which do not participate in the EPPO enhanced cooperation, and with the partner institutions and services, including Eurojust and OLAF.

Commenting another issue on the agenda of the Justice and Home Affairs Council - reciprocal recognition of freezing and confiscation orders - Tsacheva said that it is very important for Bulgaria as it is aimed to enhance the capacity of the EU to combat the financing of terrorism and organized crime.
