site.btaMinistry Receives One Bid in Procedure for Acquisition of Naval Patrol Vessels

Sofia, October 25 (BTA) - The Bulgarian Defence Ministry announced on Wednesday it had received a single bid in a procedure for the procurement of a patrol craft for the Bulgarian Navy.

An interdepartamental working group, appointed by the prime minister and comprising representatives of the Defence Ministry, the Finance Ministry and the Economy Ministry will assess the technical and financial aspects according to a methodology approved by the Defence Council.

Navy Commander Rear Admiral Mitko Petev said that of the six companies which had expressed interest in the procedure four said that were unable to place a bid and two failed to reply.

The working group will submit a report to the Defence Minister with recommendations on the subsequent steps.

The investment project for the acquisition of two new multipurpose patrol craft was approved by the Bulgarian parliament on June 2 2016.
