site.btaPM Borissov Meets with Kosovo President Thaci

Sofia, March 1 (BTA) - Connectivity among the Western Balkan countries and with the EU was high on the agenda of a meeting Thursday between Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci. "We should take advantage of the momentum and focus on the real construction of corridors between our countries: transport, energy, digital", said Borisov as quoted by the government press office.

He spoke of new venues for hybrid financing through various financial institutions and other donors to invest in the implementation of concrete projects. "Connectivity and visa liberalization will help increase tourist exchange business exchange between the two countries, which will further economic cooperation in the region," said Borissov.

The Bulgarian government leader pointed out that the European integration of the Western Balkans, which is a top priority of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council and has made the EU agenda involves Kosovo integration. Borissov said: "We are aware of the challenges arising from the position of some EU members on Kosovo's status but this should not discourage you."

Cyprus, Greece, Romania, Slovakia, and Spain have not recognized Kosovo.

The two leaders commended the Western Balkans Strategy.
