Teteven, North Central Bulgaria, July 25 (BTA) - The torrential rains on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday further aggravated the situation in Teteven Municipality, where the state of emergency continues. It was declared on Tuesday, when the floods in the area claimed a life.

The water level of Vit river has reached 235 cm (the critical level is 300 cm).

Teteven Mayor Madlena Boyadzhieva told BTA that 13 children have been evacuated from a cut-off villa in Glozhene village with the help of firefighting crews.

Two quarters in Glogovo village are still cut off, and the river prevents machinery from reaching the settlement, she also said.

Teteven, Ribaritsa, Bulgarski Izvor , Golyam Izvor and parts of Glozhene have no running water but are being supplied by a water distribution truck.

The work with heavy machinery on diverting the river and building temporary dikes continues in the village of Gradezhnitsa and Glogovo.
