Sports Minister Glushkov Launched 2nd Edition The Rocks International Track and Field Race in Belogradchik

Careraker Youth and Sports Minister Georgi Glushkov launched the second edition of  The Rocks international track and field race in Belogradchik, the Ministry reported on Sunday.

"I can only congratulate the organizers of the St. George Athletics Club for their professionalism and tireless efforts in preparing the race. The great interest in this event serves as proof of their excellent work," said Minister Glushkov at the opening of the competition. 

The race, which took place on the streets of Belogradchik, was attended by more than 80 competitors from Bulgaria, Morocco, Uganda and Serbia in the age groups girls and boys up to 14 and up to 16 years, juniors up to 18 years, women, men and veterans. On the start line in the veterans stood iconic athletes from the past such as the Olympic vice-champion Nikolina Shtereva, the 1,000 m indoor record holder Tsvetelina Kirilova and Bulgaria's record holder in the distances from 1,500 m to 10,000 m, Evgeni Ignatov.

The winner of the women's race for the second year in a row was Marinela Mineva, and in the men's race - Ismail Senanji. 

After the race, Minister Glushkov together with Belogradchik Mayor Boyan Minkov and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Eurohold Bulgaria, Assen Christov, visited the gym of the local Vassil Levski High School, built with the company's funds. The school now has a indoor hall for physical education and sports classes.
