The readings on the European platform for exchange of radiation data, EUROPED, and those from the national system for radiation monitoring, BULRaMo, show on  change in radiation in Bulgaria and in the Cernavoda area after a fire in a non-nuclear part of the N-plant, the Nuclear Regulation Agency told BTA.

The fire in the Romanian N-plant was reported earlier on Tuesday.

BTA called the Nuclear Regulation Agency and it sent an inquiry to the Romanian nuclear regulator, which confirmed that there was a minor fire in the turbine room of Unit 2 of Cernavoda. The fire was put out swiftly and there was no risk for the safety of the N-plant. The N-plant staff were evacuated. No damage was caused. An investigation will try to establish what caused the accident.

The N-plant now continues to work at full capacity.
