A few days ago marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Chuprene Biosphere Reserve. The purpose of the creation of the protected area is to preserve the only compact natural spruce relict forests in the Western Balkan Mountains, told BTA Juliet Yaneva, head of the Tourist Visitor Centre in the village of Dolni Lom, Chuprene Municipality.
