As a result of "a massive enemy attack, one of the densely populated areas of the city is without electricity, water, and heating", Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov reported on Telegram. The Ukrainian coastal city of Odesa was targeted in a drone attack launched from the Black Sea late on Tuesday.
Four people were injured, including a child. All of them have been hospitalized with moderate injuries, Odesa Regional Governor Oleh Kiper said on Telegram.
Hospitals, 14 schools, 13 kindergartens, and over 500 residential buildings have been left without power and heating.
Educational institutions affected by the power and heating outages will remain closed until these services are restored and the situation improves.
Since Wednesday morning, representatives of the city council have been accepting applications from residents of damaged homes, while utility services are working to address the aftermath of the attack.
In Odesa’s Kyivskyi District, which was subjected to a two-hour drone assault shortly after midnight on Tuesday into Wednesday, heating stations have been set up. There, residents can warm up, charge their mobile phones, and have a cup of hot tea.
Odesa Region is home to the third largest community of expatriate Bulgarians, numbering more than 150,000 people, according to an official population census in Ukraine in 2001. Bulgarians in the region are concentrated in the districts of Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
