Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov and Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel met in the framework of a trilateral meeting between Greece, Bulgaria and Romania on Tuesday.

Parlicov expressed gratitude to Bulgaria for supporting Moldova's European course and welcomed the increase of high-level contacts and bilateral cooperation, especially in the energy sector. He stressed the need to intensify the work of the joint Moldovan-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission, as well as to boost contacts at business level. In this context, the officials agreed to organize a Moldovan-Bulgarian business forum in 2024.

The two sides agreed on the need to involve Bulgaria more actively in the development process of Moldova's southern region, including the Taraclia region, so that Bulgaria, as a member of the European Union, can become an important reference point for the residents of this region, Parlicov said on his Facebook page.

"As a first step in this direction, I agreed with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel to sign an agreement on development cooperation between our countries," Parlicov noted.

He explained that the cooperation agreement will be implemented in the fields of sustainable energy and climate, infrastructure development, access to public services, education, culture, and media.
