Caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev expressed his support for Ukraine in "its just cause to preserve its independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty, in accordance with the UN Charter and international law", the government information service reported on Wednesday. Glavchev participated in the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The forum's aim is to secure the support of the countries in the region for Kyiv in its struggle for freedom and peace.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy participated in the summit.

A joint declaration reflecting the key messages of the summit was also adopted. The Bulgarian Prime Minister pointed out that the position he expressed was strictly in line with the decisions of the Bulgarian National Assembly. "We will support Ukraine for as long as it takes, according to our capabilities," Glavchev added.

Speaking at the forum, he stressed that the war in Ukraine requires European integration to remain high on the political agenda of the European Union, as EU enlargement is a "cornerstone for peace and prosperity" among the European nations. Glavchev expressed his hopes that Ukraine will maintain its momentum towards European integration.

This is the third edition of this high-level political format after the meetings in Tirana in February and in Athens in August 2024.
