By the end of October 2023, Bulgaria had attributed temporary protection status to 168,300 Ukrainians fleeing from Russia's war of aggression since February 24, 2022, according to Eurostat data. This country had the fourth largest number of beneficiaries of temporary protection from Ukraine after Germany (1,215,365 people), Poland (960,620) and Czechia (364,450).

On October 31, 2023, 4.24 million non-EU citizens who fled Ukraine as a consequence of the Russian invasion had temporary protection status in EU countries.
