For the first time in years, left-wing people in Bulgaria have the opportunity to vote for a united coalition, which is BSP - United Left, Dr Lidiya Chorbanova, top-of-the-list candidate in Smolyan, said during the campaign opening in the town on Tuesday.
"Here in this region, I fought for the hospital in Devin in 2014, which was closed and we reopened. In Smolyan, we opened the first practice for maternal and child health care. I fought to keep the rehabilitation hospitals in Banite and Rudozem in operation, and I understand very well how people feel here," Chorbanova said.
She noted that the spiral of elections in which the country was plunged in the last four years is a huge challenge and votes for the left-wing parties are shrinking. "As a left-wing person and a convinced socialist, I can't help feeling hurt," she added. Chorbanova urged those present to be active and to believe in the United Left, which has the chance to improve its showing.
