A major part of the strengthening of Bulgarian national security is related to the reform of the security services and the Interior Ministry, said Atanas Slavov, leader of the list for the upcoming elections of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" (CC-DB) in Sofia Region's 26th constituency. He was speaking on NovaNews on Sunday, as quoted by the press centre of his party, Yes, Bulgaria!.

"It is extremely important that the Bulgarian services serve the national interest and not leave the impression that they serve various oligarchic and corporate interests," Slavov said.

"We need to take care of our security and our defence in order to live better, Slavov also said, and recalled that CC-DB has been working for years on strengthening defence and security through investments in human capital and material resources. Slavov added that for CC-DB, Bulgaria's entry in Schengen by land is part of the pan-European policy to strengthen the EU's external borders.

New members of the anti-corruption commission should also be elected in the next National Assembly, and achieving a large majority is advisable, Slavov added.

He noted that CC-DB plans to strengthen the security of critical infrastructure and cybersecurity to respond to and effectively defend against cyber attacks and incidents.

The measures to strengthen national security also envisage ending the practice of state or EU funding for media outlets that spread pro-Russian propaganda in Bulgaria, Slavov added.
