Commenting on the political situation in Bulgaria ahead of the October 27 parliamentary snap elections, BSP Floor Leader Borislav Gutsanov told bTV that it would be difficult for the parties and coalitions to form a regular government, and, in his words, an expert cabinet is the only alternative at this stage. Gutsanov is BSP - United Left Coalition’s top-of-the-list candidate in the Varna and Shumen Multimember Constituencies.
Gutsanov criticized the so-called 'assemblage' [the name used for the former ruling majority of GERB-UDF and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB)]. "I do not know what CC-DB think, but I see that they have strongly embraced GERB and MRF (the Movement for Rights and Freedoms) in the last year. Hopefully, they are out of this situation now and have started thinking about Bulgaria's priorities and not [about] what we saw in the 'assemblage' government because that was pathological servility, greed and incompetence," Gutsanov argued.
He also commented on GERB leader Boyko Borissov’s words, who said that BSP is among GERB’s natural partners. "Mr. Borissov points to the BSP as a natural partner before the start of each election campaign, then it turns out this has nothing to do with the truth," he noted, adding that his party has made the decision not to coalesce with GERB and MRF (the MRF has split in two - MRF-New Beginning and Alliance for Rights and Freedoms).
Gutsanov stressed that the war in Ukraine is a red line for BSP. "BSP is for peace and is against giving weapons to Kyiv, we should stay away from this war", he said.
