The There Is Such a People (TISP) party launched its campaign for the October 27 early parliamentary elections during an event in Plovdiv on Saturday. Stanislav Balabanov, the party's top-of-the-list candidate from Bulgaria's second-largest city, opened the campaign. Lachezar Bakardzhiev, former deputy governor of Plovdiv Region and former MP, was also present at the opening, which was held at the Small Basilica of Philippopolis.
"We are starting another battle for trust," Balabanov said. He expects much lower turnout at the forthcoming elections than in previous votes. "Such turnout will not do us any good as a society," he warned.
Balabanov presented the main points on TISP's campaign programme. In the next National Assembly, the party will prioritize the provision of incentives to young families, among other policies. Balabanov cited data showing that Bulgaria's population is now under 6 million. Another TISP priority is tax exemption for those who have babies. The party will also push for soft loans for purchasing a first home.
TISP enthusiasts attending the event declared their support for the party in the upcoming elections.
