The structures of the Ministry of Interior have thus far received 388 alerts for violation of electoral legislation and citizens' political rights. A total of 97 pre-trial proceedings have been initiated, caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov said in a Facebook post on Saturday.

At a meeting in the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Stoyanov has acquainted the representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) with the measures undertaken by the Interior Ministry to ensure the public order and security on June 9, when national and European parliament elections will be held in Bulgaria. He has also presented the activities to counter crimes against citizens' political rights.

The effective interaction with the Central Election Commission, the district election commissions, the municipal and regional administrations continues, maintaining daily contact at all levels for the smooth conduct of election day, Stoyanov's Facebook post reads.

"Through the interactive geographic map, which we introduced for the first time last year, we monitor the incoming alerts in real time. This enables us to make the necessary decisions to redirect forces and thus avoid situations where vote-buying could occur. The existing National Inter-agency Unit between the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Interior and the State Agency for National Security, as well as the Operational Headquarters established in the Ministry of Interior, continue their active work to ensure the fairness of the vote," the Minister wrote.
