Three days before the elections, the Executive is interfering in the elections in Stara Zagora Region, Bulgarian Solidarity coalition leader Vanya Grigorova said on Bulgarian National Radio on Wednesday. Grigorova is top-of-the-list candidate for the European Parliament elections as well as for Sofia's 25th constituency and Plovdiv (South Central Bulgaria) for the snap general elections on June 9.

She also said that the topics set by her coalition during the election campaign "have clearly scared the power holders". "Here is another piece of news from today: we yet again have an inadmissible interference by the institutions in the election process. On Wednesday afternoon, caretaker Energy Minister Vladimir Malinov and Stara Zagora Mayor Zhivko Todorov, who is also a member of GERB's leadership, arrived urgently in Radnevo to supposedly talk with trade union leaders about the future of the Maritsa East complex," Grigorova said. In her words, the visit's goal is obviously different, given that there are only three days left until the elections. Media were provided with special transport to ensure the detailed coverage of the event. "If the power holders were that concerned about the future of the Maritsa East complex, they could have taken advantage of the visit of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen [on June 2] and raised the issue in front of her," Grigorova argued.
