site.btaCITUB, GERB Highlight Labour Market as Top Priority for Next Four Years

Representatives of the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) met with GERB’s MP candidates in Sofia on Monday. The two sides highlighted the labour market among their top priorities for the next four years.

GERB Deputy Chair Tomislav Donchev pointed out that it is very important to have a government ran by people with professional experience. Among the main priorities in the party's policies he listed education, human capital, investment, industry and labour market. As other priorities he added investment in infrastructure, energy efficiency and urban environment.

“It is extremely important to have a sustainable formula of political governance and for the parliament to complete a full mandate to ensure the consistency of the decisions,” said CITUB President Plamen Dimitrov. “We raise key issues for the functioning of the labour market - investment in high technologies,” he said. CITUB sees industrial development as a fundamental issue, but it "fights" with the so-called Green Deal, which must be "moderately revised", Dimitrov added.

CITUB's representatives also raised questions about benefits for workers at Maritsa Iztok energy complex, collective bargaining, problems in separate sectors, as well as regarding the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

GERB’s Denitsa Sacheva pointed out that among the party's goals is new labour legislation, as she argued that the current Labour Code is outdated.
