In a position circulated by the Movement for Righs and Freedoms press centre, party leader Delyan Peevski said that it is unacceptable and irresponsible on the part of President Rumen Radev to scare people with frankly false threats about the participation of NATO troops in Ukraine. Any attempt to instill fear in this way shows either a desire for unregulated interference in the course of the election campaign or the fulfillment of the goals of Russian propaganda and hybrid warfare, stressed Peevski.

Peevski recalled that all such decisions under the Constitution can only be taken by the Bulgarian Parliament, and that parliamentarians have not faced such a choice, nor has anyone had such an intention.

Bulgaria's unprecedented support for Ukraine is the result of a firm belief as Euro-Atlantic values values and opposing inhumane aggression, said Peevski but stressed that  more direct ways of support for Ukraine were never on the agenda.

During his visit to Hungary on Saturday, President Rumen Radev said that diplomatic instruments must be found as soon as possible to end the war in Ukraine, and that more weapons would not accomplish this goal.

Peeski stressed that busing people's fears will be punished by t he people themslves, specifying that the warning is to President Rumen Radev and adding that "for the Bulgarian citizens, the most important thing is security for them and their children here and now. And all of us are obliged to guarantee it with words and actions".
