The Central Election Commission (CEC) can count on the full cooperation of the executive for the preparation and conduct of fair and transparent elections, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said at a meeting on Monday with the CEC leadership at the Council of Ministers, quoted by the Cabinet press office. The talks, organized on the initiative of the Prime Minister, were also attended by caretaker Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova, caretaker Transport Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov, caretaker E-governance Minister Valentin Mundrov, caretaker Foreign Minister Stefan Dimitrov, caretaker Justice Minister Maria Pavlova, caretaker Regional Development Violeta Koritarova, as well as representatives of the Interior Ministry.

On June 9, 2024, Bulgarians will be voting for national and European Parliament.

Glavchev emphasized the good interaction between the institutions, which is a guarantee for a successful end result. "Together we can make efforts and meet the expectations of the Bulgarian citizens that the elections will be fair and transparent," he stressed.

CEC Chair Kameliya Neykova described the meeting with the executive as timely and expressed confidence that it was a good start to the joint work on the organization of the vote.

During the meeting at the Council of Ministers, the timelines for the various activities in the course of the preparations for the elections were discussed. Among the topics of discussion were also the organization of the vote abroad, as well as the securing of the machine voting in a way that eliminates any suspicion of manipulation. CEC said that it is preparing a special awareness campaign on the issue of residence qualifications rule, which is a feature of the European elections. Interior Ministry representatives reported that its structures on the ground are already actively working against vote trading.
