Economy Minister Dilov Attends EXPO 2025's Closing Ceremony in Osaka

Economy Minister Peter Dilov attended EXPO 2025's closing ceremony in Osaka, Japan, the Ministry's press centre reported on Monday. The event was held from April 13 to October 13 and was attended by over 160 countries. 

Dilov said that Bulgaria and Japan are marking a new strategic stage in their bilateral economic cooperation this year. He emphasized the importance of such global forums for positioning Bulgaria as a high-tech, innovative and attractive business and investment destination.

The Economy Minister congratulated Osaka on successfully hosting EXPO 2025, adding that Bulgaria's participation with its own pavilion expressed Bulgaria's commitment to showcasing the richness of Bulgarian culture and traditions, as well as the country contemporary achievements in high technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence.

He added that Bulgaria considers Japan to be a key strategic partner in Asia. He added that Bulgaria is well known in Japan as the land of roses and yoghurt, but is also now recognized as an attractive business and investment destination, particularly in the high-tech industry.

Dilov also said that Bulgaria's participation in EXPO 2025 confirmed its commitment to promoting innovation, sustainable development, and international cooperation, thereby establishing its position as an active partner in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Minister visited the Bulgarian pavilion at the EXPO, organized by The Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency (BSMEPA), which has been visited by over 310,000 people. The pavilion is of the highest class “A” and attracted great interest among visitors and international participants. The Bulgarian pavilion was positioned in the Saving Lives thematic area, focusing on the sub-themes Life Sciences, Health and Well-Being, Agriculture and Food Production, Renewable and New Energies.

The exhibition presented the country's assets and achievements in various sectors, including science, technology, green innovation, and sustainable development. Bulgaria's presentation at EXPO 2025 highlighted the country's contribution to innovation and its potential to establish itself as a strategic energy hub based on sustainable technologies and the transition to a green future.

The official ceremony was also attended by Bulgarian Ambassador to Japan Marieta Arabadjieva, and Bulgarian Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency Executive Director Boyko Takov, as well as ministers and delegates from the countries participating in the exhibition.
