Security guarantees are fundamental to achieving lasting and sustainable peace, Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said during a virtual meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on Thursday, according to the Government Information Service (GIS).

The coalition remains united in its call for security guarantees for Ukraine, as highlighted in the video conference, the press release noted. The guarantees focus on supporting a strong Ukrainian army and as fostering the further development of the defense industry in both Ukraine and Europe, the participants in the meeting emphasized, as quoted by the GIS.

The participants also agreed that Russia’s apparent unwillingness to commit to ending the war and negotiating peace further reinforces the need to exert impact on Russia, including through new sanctions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders met in Paris Thursday to discuss security guarantees for the war-torn nation as allies seek to ensure long-term military support and continued American backing once the conflict ends, the Associated Press reported.
