Deputy Prime Minister Atanas Zafirov held a meeting with Ambassador Alejandro Zothner Meyer of Argentina. The main focus of the talks was the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries with a focus on agricultural machinery, industry, agriculture, and high technology, the Council of Ministers' press service reported here on Tuesday.

"Bulgaria attaches strategic importance to its trade and economic relations with Argentina and sees significant potential for their expansion. We are convinced that we can deepen our partnership in key sectors such as agriculture, industry and high technology. In this context, we are ready to work actively to identify new opportunities for cooperation, and the friendship group between the two countries can play an essential role in this process," Deputy PM Zafirov stressed.

He also highlighted the important role of the Bulgarian diaspora in Argentina, which numbers about 60,000 people, in strengthening cultural and sport related bilateral ties.

For his part, Ambassador Zothner Meyer, expressed confidence in the importance of the economic ties between the two countries. "For Argentina, Bulgaria is a strategic partner with an important place in the economic cooperation between the two countries, and the development of bilateral economic ties is of particular interest to us," he stressed.

"The stability of the government in Bulgaria is of key importance for the development of the country. This is a country with enormous potential and we are keen to present in Argentina its role as a strategic gateway to Europe. Our main goal is to promote bilateral economic cooperation and attract more investment," the Ambassador added.

The two officials also discussed the traditional partnerships between Bulgaria and Argentina in the field of science, including joint research related to Antarctica.

The meeting concluded with a mutual assurance to further deepen bilateral relations and strengthen economic and cultural cooperation between Bulgaria and Argentina.
