The Bulgarian men's beach handball team lost its last match in the Group B qualifiers for EURO 2025. The qualifying games are underway on the South Beach in Varna. The Bulgarian squad, coached by Alexander Boyadzhiev, was defeated by Czechia 1-2 (25-24, 20-21, 6-7) after a penalty shootout.
Two of the Bulgarians, Martin Angelov and Dimitar Tanev, were shown a red card in the second part of the game.
In the other Group B match, Norway beat outsiders Malta 2-0 (24-14, 24-9).
The last two matches in the group will be played later on Friday between Malta and Czechia and between Norway and France. The final group ranking of the Bulgarian men's team will not be clear until after the last match.
Bulgaria's score in men's Group B is two wins and two losses. France has scored three wins, Norway two wins and one loss, Czechia one win and two losses, and Malta three losses.
In the women's division of the beach handball qualifiers in Varna, Bulgaria won their fourth match. They prevailed over Switzerland 2-0 (23-22, 21-16), thus retaining their chance of qualifying for EURO 2025.
Before the last women's qualifiers, Poland has four wins, Ukraine three wins and one loss, Bulgaria and Croatia two wins and two losses each, Turkiye one win and three losses, and Switzerland four losses.
The last games in the qualifying group will be held on Saturday. Bulgaria's women will face Turkiye, Poland will play Ukraine, and Switzerland will stand against Croatia.
