Bulgarian athlete Plamena Mitkova came in seventh at the women’s long jump final at the European Athletics Championships in Rome on Wednesday. The 2022 Cali U20 world and Balkan champion set a personal record with a jump of 6.80 metres on her second attempt.

The 19-year-old failed to achieve the qualifying mark for the Paris 2024 Olympics in the women's long jump, which stands at 6.86 metres.

Olympic and world champion Malaika Mihambo (Germany) finished first with a score of 7.22 metres, which is the best achievement in the world this season. The European title is the second of Mihambo’s career.

Larissa Iapichino (Italy) came in second, with a score of 6.94 metres. Agate de Sousa (Portugal) made it to the third position with a score of 6.91 meters.
