site.btaBulgarian Tennis Player Tomova Loses Second Round Match at French Open

Bulgaria's highest ranked female tennis player Viktoriya Tomova lost in Roland Garros' second round after a 5-7 7-5 1-6 defeat against world No. 37 Xinyu Wang in Paris on Thursday.

Tomova, world No. 75 in the world, managed to stage a comeback in the second set after a 0-2 start but was outplayed by the Chinese player in the third - Wang scored 9 winners in the deciding set, saved two out of two break points and qualified for the next round.

The Bulgarian will leave Paris with her head held high as she achieved her first win at the French Open earlier this week by defeating world No. 18 Ekaterina Alexandrova in two sets - the highest ranked opponent she has ever beaten in her career. 

Tomova got 70 points for the WTA rankings and is expected to move a few places up when the standings are updated on June 10.
